Laid-back Serangan Island is known for the Turtle Conservation and Education Center, where visitors can adopt a rescued hawksbill or green turtle and release it into the sea. The grounds of centuries-old Hindu temple Pura Dalem Sakenan are dotted with ornate statues. Simple cafes, or warungs, serve nasi goreng, bakso meatballs, and other staples. There are strong surfing waves at Serangan Beach in the east.
