LAUT LOUD (((~~~)))
Putu Septa’s experimental music has been
amplified throughout national and international stages
with collaborations such as with Dafra Kura Band (Africa), Filastine (Barcelona), Bloco (Singapore), and many more. Putu Septa studied music formally at the Indonesian Institute of Performing Arts in Denpasar (ISI Denpasar) then took his master degree at ISI Surakarta on musical composition.
Born in Ubud, Bali, Putu Septa inherits natural talent as a gamelan player from his grandfather. Despite being stereotyped as a mountain guy, his compositions expressed the opposite of calm and quiet. He created a new set of gamelan ensembles as a contribution to his culture, and founded a gamelan group called Nata Swara. Nata Swara is a community that focuses on traditional Balinese gamelan music works as well as producing new works for the performing arts and aimed to create a new generation of Balinese gamelan players.
Founded and using the gamelan set designed by Putu Septa, Nata Swara is actively producing new compositions, exploring classical gamelan music, as well as instilling, mobilizing, and increasing cooperation. ARKA KINARI is a floating cultural platform to sound the alarm on climate change and build networks of resilience in coastal communities. Traveling by sail and powered by renewable energy, it is both method and message. In ports Arka Kinari transforms into a stage for a bespoke audiovisual performance by the artists Filastine & Nova, as well as hosting workshops, talks, and concerts by local musicians.
